Virtual Job Board

Finding a Job

The Virtual Job Board is intended to assist you in finding part-time employment. It offers you the ability to search by personal preferences using key words. You can request to be contacted by email if a posted position meets your preferences.

University of Illinois departments are encouraged, but not required, to post any student employment positions on the job board. This isn’t a comprehensive listing of all on-campus student employment opportunities, so you may want to explore other options for securing on-campus jobs in addition to this resource.

Posting a Position

To post a position, use our Virtual Job Board form. The first time you log in, you’ll need to create your own unique Employer ID and password that you’ll use in the future to post, edit, and delete your job postings. You’ll also determine how long you want to have your position posted.

The hiring department may classify any hourly position that you wish to fill with an undergraduate student as Federal Work-Study (FWS). FWS is a federally funded, need-based work program allowing students to earn money for their college education. We strongly encourage you to consider this.

FWS funds pay 50% of the student's wages, while the department pays the other 50%. Once an FWS student employee has reached his or her maximum FWS earnings, employment may be continued at the discretion of the employing department or agency. The department will be responsible for 100% of the student's remaining wages.

You should ask students if they’ve been awarded FWS before you hire them. You may confirm an FWS award by checking the award section of RJASEAR or by calling the Student Employment Unit at 217-333-0600.
