Loan Servicer Questions

OSFA handles the initial loan processing and disbursement, but the repayment of federal and institutional loan funds is a process handled by a loan servicer. Servicers are companies contracted to collect payment from student loan borrowers, and questions regarding the repayment process, payment plan, status, or account should be directed to the servicer. Loan servicers also issue the 1098-E (interest paid on student loans) statement.

Not sure how to identify your loan servicer? See information by loan type below.

Federal Student Loans

Students are assigned a federal loan serviced by the Department of Education. Information on identifying the servicer can be done through Federal Student Aid.

Log in using the button labeled “Find My Servicer” at Federal Student Aid to find your loan servicer.

Note, only the borrower’s federal loans will show on the account; parents who borrowed a Parent PLUS Loan must use their FSA ID, not their student’s.

Campus-Based Student Loans

Heartland ECSI is the loan servicer for University Loans, Loan for Disadvantaged Students (LDS), and Health Professions Student Loans. If you have not yet created an account with ECSI, they have a website page dedicated to that process. Heartland ECSI can be reached by phone at 888-549-3274.
